Sweet Poppas Cafe & Catering

I visited this local spot recently and was pleased with the food — everything was hot, fresh, and clearly made with quality ingredients. You can tell there’s care put into the cooking, and that definitely made the meal enjoyable. That said, the customer service could use some improvement. When I walked in, there were about four people behind the counter, but I wasn’t really greeted or acknowledged in a welcoming way. It felt a little awkward, like no one was quite sure who should be helping. Some of the staff looked like teenagers, which makes me think it might be a family-run business — possibly younger family members helping out. If that’s the case, a bit more training in customer service and people skills could go a long way in creating a more inviting atmosphere. Overall, the food was great, and I’d come back — but I hope to see a warmer, more welcoming environment next time. A simple greeting can make a big difference in encouraging customers to return.

I was very, very happy with my meal. Im a professional chef. The food i had was season perfect! I got up and found the person who cooked food. And told him that how enjoyed the food . Mike was his name. Great job!

This place is top tier. I had the baked chicken lunch plate. Chicken was SO tender. Green beans were fire. Washed it down with red koolaid! My friend had chopped pork bbq sandwich and loved it. Will be going back!

This is my first time going to sweet Papa‘s Café and I got a Patty melt that came with fries and a drink. I’m not supposed to be eating fries, but I ate the fries because they were so good. My patty melt was the bomb! I added mushrooms, but I don’t even think that would’ve even been necessary! The patty melt was so seasoned and so cheesy. It’s hard to find a good patty melt but I found one here! I will definitely be back. I would’ve took a picture of the whole meal, but I ate it

One of best souls food establishments around LR/NLR. Tge staff is always friendly. Food comes out quick and let’s not forget the taste. If you haven’t tried it, try it ASAP. You won’t be disappointed.

I put coffee in Google and this café appeared. I walked in and a pleasant gentleman told me they have a fresh pot of Joe for me but no specialty coffee. As sad so was I fell in love with this cafe! They said they will start serving SOUL FOOD ON the weekend! Not sure if that is happening now! But yummy yum yum!!! I believe he said Sunday's. I took my coffee to go and got 5 slices of Turkey bacon to go! Delicious my birthday dog enjoyed but I had some to it smelled too good!

The food was absolutely amazing! Southern cooking at its finest. Someone has definitely stolen your grandmother's recipes. It is a small place but the cooking will remind you of simpler days. I cannot say enough about how wonderful the food was today.
